Ian Gelder was born in England and is a British Actor. His best-known roles are as Kevan in Game of Thrones on HBO or as Mr. Dekker from Torchwood: Children of Earth.
Gelder, who has had a successful career as an actress, is admired for his many stage and screen performances. In addition to his roles in Agatha Christie’s Poirot as well as London’s Burning, Gelder has also appeared in numerous television series. Gelder has also had a successful career in the theatre, having appeared in numerous productions both in London’s West End as well Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre.
Gelder, who played Kevan Lannister in Game of Thrones’ first season was confirmed as the actor’s character by 2010, After his introduction as the youngest brother of Lord Tywin he was a powerful ally in the Lannister House. Gelder’s character returned after a noticeable absence. In later seasons, he met his death in the Season 6 finale.
Ian Gelder was also seen in David Storey’s stage adaptation The March on Russia and in Snatch, a small-screen version of Snatch. Gelder has made several television appearances, including voicing The Remains during Jodie Whitaker’s debut season as Doctor Who.
At the age of 72, Ian Gelder died on 6 May 2024 from cancer of the bile duct.
